My name is Brooke Roberts and I am the executive director of Sign of Da’ Times, a company that aims to ‘Bridge the gap between the Deaf and hearing cultures through education and the performing arts.’ Through this company I have been blessed with many rewarding interpreting opportunities. I have interpreted RENT at both American Stage Theatre and Blake High School. I have interpreted Parade at Blake High School. We were then blessed with the opportunity to perform for Marlee Matlin during a lecture she was presenting at UCF. Also, during a House of Blues concert by India.Arie we were asked to join her on stage and interpret her song There’s Hope. My interpreting experiences have continued at Florida State University and I have interpreted 2013 Freshman Convocation, 2013 December Graduation, and the Golden Globe Lecture Series by Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson.
I am currently a student at Florida State University studying ESE Education, with hopes to work in a classroom of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children. I have a passion for serving this community and will continue serving for the rest of my life.
